Milk Carton Igloo

Help us build a Milk Carton Igloo on Friday, February 12 at 6:30, as part of our Annual Winter Carnival. We need you to supply the frozen “bricks”, then we’ll build it during Winter Carnival!

January 12: Start saving your milk cartons now! Just wash them out, and set them aside. No need to fill them yet.
February 1: Fill with water, add food coloring and set them outside to freeze
February 12: Bring your cartons to the corner of Victoria Street and Broadway Street and watch us build an igloo! Bonus: we are always looking for volunteers to help us open the cartons, so feel free to hop in and help out!

Tips and Tricks

  • Wait to fill them around the first week of February.
  • Leave an inch space or so from the top
  • Add a couple drops of food coloring to each filled carton
  • The best way to freeze the cartons is to leave them outside. Keep them separated from each other though – if they are stacked or stored together, they won’t freeze evenly.
