“Pay it Forward” Week at Kensington Schools

The Pay it Forward initiative is one exciting project put in place to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Kensington.  As part of our 2014 celebration, we are encouraging residents to Pay it Forward; in other words, to do a good deed for another, in hopes that they will, in turn, do a good deed for someone else.

The Pay it Forward committee has approached Kensington Intermediate High School and Queen Elizabeth Elementary School to participate for one week to help us reach our goal of recording 2,014 good deeds by our May 23, 2014 anniversary.

Students and staff are encouraged to “Pay it Forward” for the week of Oct 28 to Nov 1.  Then the student or staff member will record it on a slip of paper and put it in the assigned bag in their classroom.

Each classroom has over 200 ballots – it will be possible to use them all! The small things count, like holding a door open for a stranger, letting someone go ahead of you in line, or simply complimenting someone you don’t know. The class who has completed the most “Pay it Forwards” by the end of the week will win a pizza party prize.

The Pay it Forward committee is excited to see the initiative get off the ground and to encourage Kensington’s youth to get into the Pay it Forward frame of mind.
