Kimberley Champion
I graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. After completing my degree, I entered the research field when I was hired by an Island law firm. As a Title Searcher, my interest in community history heightened and growing up near Kensington gave me added interest in researching and writing for this project. The historical information gained and the computer knowledge learned has been an added bonus since working on computers had been somewhat lacking on my resume. Currently, I am now residing in Darnley with my husband and my two and a half year old daughter, Courtney. I enjoyed working with all the members of the project team and also with the members of KenNet. I would like to thank the many people who donated their time, artifacts, pictures and knowledge to our cause. I would especially like to thank the individuals who took the time to be interviewed. Your support and information was essential to the success of this project.
Patrick Ledwell
I graduated from Acadia University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English, and completed my Masters in English at Dalhousie in 1997. Last year, due to drastic university cutbacks, I managed to get hired on teaching sessionally at Dalhousie. But soon, I became tired of employers waking me up at all hours of the night offering high-paying jobs, and decided to begin 'diversifying my skill set'-- as the human resource jargon would have it. Currently, my interests are in the area of merging multimedia and the humanities, and I have been accepted into the Information Design and Technology Masters program at Georgia Tech for the fall of 1998. This Industry Canada project was an ideal opportunity for me to begin exploring multimedia possibilities. I was the co-ordinator of the digitization project, and like all co-ordinators, my role could be compared to any multi-purpose appliance sold on late night TV: I did a couple dozen things, but none of them as well as a more narrowly focused unit. My main responsibilities were HTML programming and site administration, revising and editing the text, consulting on matters of graphic design, and stepping lightly on other people's toes. I would like to thank team members for not minding when I did. I would also like to express my gratitude to the dedicated members of the community who made this project possible. Your tireless efforts guarantee that places like Kensington will not become history.
Crystal (McAndrew) Fall
In 1997 I graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History and English. Prior to university, my interest in history was cultivated at Kensington Intermediate-Senior High School, which made the task of creating a virtual museum for the community quite attractive. I worked steadily on HTML programming and some graphic design. In other words, my primary concern was with the technical portion of the site. Adobe Photoshop and Visioneer Paper Port were useful programs for preparing pictures, while Front Page Express, Word Perfect, and Explorer made the technical work possible. Meanwhile, I am residing in Kensington with my loving husband, Noah, and my adorable daughter, Emma. I enjoyed working with my four cohorts and the KenNet members who assisted us. Thank you for making these ten weeks pleasant and worthwhile. We created a strong, sophisticated site that we can be pleased with.
Angela Spencer
I graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in French and in 1996 with a Bachelor of Education. Since then I have been working in the Education field with the goal of becoming a permanent French or classroom teacher. I was extensively involved in the research and writing for this site. I really enjoyed working with my team members on this line and want to thank them for their help and support. Currently, my husband Jeff and I reside in Kensington, P.E.I.
Shelley Jollimore
In 1997 I graduated from the University of New Brunswick with my Bachelor of Education degree specializing in French Immersion. After graduating, I was a supply teacher on Prince Edward Island before heading to South Korea to teach English as a Foreign Language. Being a teacher, it is important to have computer skills. This project has allowed me to familiarize myself with different programs including Adobe Photoshop, Visioneer Paper Port and Front Page Express. During the program, my involvement focused mainly on graphics, writing and some programming. This has been a valuable learning experience and I would like to thank all those who were involved. At present I am living in French River, P.E.I.
