Photos of World War I Canadian companies and batallions who, having reaching the end of their training, are ready to depart for the front. The companies here include the Halifax Siege Batallion (bottom right). Many of the P.E.I. Highlanders trained at Val Cartier, Quebec. In the upper right, there is a photo of the Canadian fleet setting sail from Quebec in October, 1914 for the 'War of Nations.' This batallion alone included 31 transports, 20 battleships, and 3200 men. (Senior Veterans Military Museum, photo by Tom MacDonald)
