Lucy Maud Montgomery worked at sorting mail at the Cavendish Post
Office, which was located in the home of her grandparents Alexander and Lucy
MacNeill. It was through this post office that she send her
manuscripts to her publishers. If they were sent back refused, as many of her first
attempts were, she could squirrel them away and keep her dreams of publication
a secret.
