A love of horse racing became a large part of the Kensington way of life. In fact, at one time, many business men would shut down their stores on Wednesday afternoons just to attend the horse races in town. For twenty three years, the annual New Annan Races were a highlight on the Kensington calendar. Because of the Depression, the last race was held in 1935, to the disappointment of many people.
