This rink built in 1929 was a bit of a novelty in that it was built in a new form of architecture never before seen on P.E.I.. The trusses were a rather intricate pattern with many joints. Following a fire in 1977 that destroyed the building some minor hockey players picked 1348 bolts from the rubble!! This complex was the envy of many other communities. Players travelled from as far away as Hunter River to play when their outdoor rinks could no longer be used. Kensington was known to have good ice, and people were willing to travel to use it. The depression was a financially difficult time for the Rink directors who were finding it hard to meet there obligations. The rink did close for a time during the depression years but was reopened and extensive work was done to the structure in 1968.
