A horse-drawn potato sprayer, which would have been used-- for example
-- in spraying the bluestone used as a potato top killer. The spray
would be poured into the wooden cask, and then forced out over the
plants through approximately 8 nozzles. The spraying action was driven
by a bicycle-style chain that attached the axle to the pumps, and the
pressure would increase or decrease depending on how fast the horses
were pulling.
