Bradford MacArthur winning the New Annan races.
The New Annan Race Track was built by John J. MacKinnon, otherwise known as Jockey Jack. For two years, Mr. MacKinnon held some matinee races. Then in 1912, James Pendergast and Jim MacDonald formed a partnership and decided to run a race meet that would adhere to the National Trotting Association rules. In the years that followed, the New Annan races began drawing crowds of several thousand, and was marked on every local calendar as an event not to be missed.
