Through all of her adult life, Maud kept a regular correspondence with Ephraim Weber of Alberta (shown above with L. M. Montgomery) and George MacMillan of Alloa, Scotland. In these letters, Maud shared reflections on the books she was reading, told of the progress of her own writing, described her family life, community life, and her distress over world affairs, including the horrors of World War I. These two relationships were among the most important friendships Maud ever knew.
