The R. L. Stuart and Company General Store is the only permanent interior and exterior set used by the production company filming Emily of New Moon. The store is located at Cabot Beach Provincial Park which is the site of four other production sets, including the New Moon homestead and barn, the Disappointed House and the Fanning School House. The interior of the General Store remains stocked with goods, rare antiques, and artifacts throughout the summer and resembles an authentic building from the late 19th century. The side of the building can be completely dismantled during filming to allow equipment such as cameras and lights inside the building. It is interesting to note that there is only a small path in front of the store that allows one horse and wagon to pass back and forth in front of the window to show town traffic during the filming inside the store.
