Last train leaving Kensington, December 22, 1989, just as it crosses the Margate Road. Besides signifying the end of an era, the train was remarkable for another reason: it was heading out of town backwards.
It had to go back to Cavendish Farms to pick up a boxcar, and simply went in reverse rather than going to the trouble of turning around. The crew on the train were: Garth Clark (conductor); Sheldon MacKinnon (engineer); Ivan Gill and Elwood Jay (trainmen). Like the railway on P.E.I. in general, this train slowly retreated from town, and soon
disappeared from sight.
