2020 Good Neighbour Award

Whether it is helping local families or helping families affected by the wildfires in British Columbia, Jamie can always be counted on to “step-up” to help those in need. He can always be found contributing his time and efforts to community development projects, fundraising, collecting clothing, food and other necessities for those in need. Jamie’s volunteer work with the Canadian Red Cross has prepared the entire region of Kensington and Area in the event of an emergency.

While Jamie’s specific volunteer contributions are too numerous to mention, some of his initiatives and accomplishments include:

Former Town Councillor for the Town of Kensington.

Interim Chief Executive Officer for Habitat for Humanity.

Volunteer for numerous Boards and Organizations including the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada, Junior Achievement, Atlantic Air Show, Kensington United Church, Minor Hockey, the Lest We Forget Veterans Committee and others.

Volunteer Manager of the Murray Christian Education Centre.

Initiated and led the development of “Ross’s Place” Community Garden.

Created a program to collect and donate medical equipment to those in need.

Deputy Provincial Team Lead for the Canadian Red Cross.

These are just a few ways in which Jamie MacKay positively impacts the Town of Kensington, the wider community of Kensington and Area and every life he touches. He is a shining example of what it means to be a “Good Neighbour”.
