National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Thursday, September 30th marks the first National Day for #TruthAndReconciliation, as well as #OrangeShirtDay. It’s a day to recognize the legacy of Residential Schools, and the painful, ongoing impact it has had on generations of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

We invite you to join us in wearing orange to remember the Indigenous children who were sent to Residential Schools and never returned home, to honour the survivors, their families, and their communities.

We encourage everyone to visit L’nuey PEI as they share and amplify social media to highlight the National Truth and Reconciliation Week from September 27 – October 1.

Listen to their stories, learn from them, and walk this path forward together.

In honour of the National Truth and Reconciliation Day, our flags will be flown at half-mast. The Town of Kensington Municipal Facilities will be closed on September 30, 2021.
