Citizen of the Year Award
The Citizen of the year award was established by Ivan J. Gallant in 2004 during his term as Mayor. The award exemplifies outstanding service to one’s community combined with an extraordinary determination and passionate desire to contribute towards improving the quality of life of residents of the Town of Kensington and, more broadly, the quality of life for residents of Prince Edward Island and Canada.
Our 2011 Citizen of the Year Award was presented to Lea Bell.
Lea Bell represents the best of what is intended to be recognized by Kensington’s Citizen of the Year Award. Lea has dedicated himself fully to the progression of Kensington and Area. Lea is past President and a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #9 Kensington. Having served in the Canadian Armed Forces, Lea years later, worked tirelessly to help build the Veterans Memorial Park. His contributions also include the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department, Horsemen’s Club, Army Cadets and Community Gardens programs, while running his own business for the past 45 years. We are proud to recognize Lea Bell as our 2011 Citizen of the Year.
