Pay it Forward
It started with a book. Then a movie. Today, the ripple effects are being felt in 52 countries, making the world a better place, one good deed at a time.
As part of our Kensington 2014 celebrations, the Town of Kensington is encouraging its residents to “Pay it Forward.” We want the town to be known as the friendliest town in Canada. (Hear that, Saint John? That title is up for grabs!) Our goal is to collect 2,014 Pay it Forwards by our Kensington 2014 kickoff celebrations next May.
What is Pay it Forward?
Pay it Forward is simply doing a good deed for another, without asking for recognition or payment. The hope is that person will pass a good deed on to a third person, and so on. Pay it Forward deeds can be as simple as raking a neighbors lawn, or paying for someones flight.
What do I do?
To start, do a good deed for another. That’s it. If they thank you, ask them simply to pay it forward.
The other side of Pay it Forward is to let us know! If someone does you a favor, a solid, an unexpected good deed, email: payitforward@townofkensington.com to let us know what they did. No need to include names, just tell us what happened.
Pay it Forward Examples
- Clean up a senior citizen’s yard
- Rake a neighbor’s lawn
- Hand out an umbrella on a rainy day
- Top up a stranger’s parking meter
- Drop off a bag of groceries to the food bank
- Pick up garbage on the side of the road
- Pay for someone’s gas
- Give blood
Remember…
Help us on our journey to being the friendliest town in Canada. If someone does something nice for you, remember to Pay it Forward! Then let us know at payitforward@townofkensington.com.
