The Island Way of Life as it is experienced today has deep roots in our province’s history and the Island landscape. These preserved symbols vary from the 40-kilometre strip of shoreline that is the Prince Edward Island National Park to heritage buildings, museums, and monuments. Landscapes, architecture, industries, rural life, accomplished Islanders... all are a vital part of our heritage and the Island Way of Life.

Prince Edward Island National Park
The ecologically diverse and aesthetically beautiful landscapes of the Island’s north shore are rich habitats and attractive recreation areas for human and non-human Islanders alike.

Historic Sites
Parks Canada’s successful efforts at protecting the Island’s cultural heritage sites make the past a part of our present.

Scenic Heritage Roads
Scattered among the province’s roadways, Prince Edward Island’s scenic heritage roads take us on a journey through space and time.

Museums and Historic Villages
Many museums and interpretive centres across the Island create snapshots of the Island’s history, making the past come alive.

Historic Buildings and Churches
Prominent people, interesting places, and historic milestones in Prince Edward Island are acknowledged by numerous monuments erected in rural communities throughout the province.

Monuments to Our Past
Turning points in Island history and outstanding figures in politics, military service, and education are commemorated in communities across the Island.
